A youth foyer for Unison Housing at Werribee: eight self-contained homes with communal facilities, providing supported accommodation for people aged 16 to 25 experiencing homelessness.
The problem.
Supported housing combines domestic-scale living with the documentation, compliance and stakeholder requirements of a community project. The building provides eight self-contained homes, with a ground-floor communal lounge and outdoor space, for people aged 16 to 25 experiencing homelessness.
The approach.
The work was built to Tom Robertson Architects' documentation and funded by the Victorian Government. It was delivered in joint venture with VP Homes: two registered builders, one contract, one program, with the consultant coordination, reporting and funding conditions run alongside the construction.
The outcome.
Eight homes and their communal facilities delivered to Unison Housing, a registered community housing provider that had already engaged Sun Homes for the refurbishment of its 24-unit Coburg site. Of everything on the record, this is the project that most closely matches what a housing agency or community housing provider procures: named architect, registered provider, public funding, real compliance load.
